After hearing several people say, "I've been watching your blog and its been awhile since you updated it!" I decided that I needed to share my heart.
For the past several months we've all heard more than we care to ever hear again about "Change". We've been promised glorious change and as we have already been seeing - change is definately on its way. I'm not at all certain that it will positive by any stretch of the imagination (Barack Obama's or our's) but change it will be.
So, since change is the theme of the day, I've decided that my own life needed some change as well.
Perhaps the change that I was about to enact was made somewhat easier because of the fact that our computer room is not heated - thus it is really not a fun place to be when it is below freezing outside. :-) However, with God's help I believe my motives are a bit more sincere than that.
While I was in no way addicted to being on the various websites on the computer (my blog and facebook being a couple of them), I was pretty attached to them. In my devotions one morning God showed me that I was spending too much time on them.
So, I have set about to "change" the way I spend my time each day. Unfortunately, that means less time to blog, surf facebook or chat with my dear girlfriends who live across the U.S. However, I've found that my days are less hectic and surprisingly, I get more accomplished each day. I've also discovered more time to hold the kids on my lap and read more stories to them! That's not a bad thing, now is it?!
Additionally, I've found that while I have no desire to "stick my head in the sand" about politics and current events, I also really do not need to know every little tiny detail about what's happening around me. Since deleting drudge, Rush Limbaugh, Foxnews.com and hannity.com from my daily list of "must reads" I am much less stressed and much happier. Sure, the world may be about to end, but in all reality, if I am ready (which thank the Lord I am) do I really need to constantly immerse myself in all the political nastiness and junk that is out there? When I am fully aware of how seeing "President elect B.Obama" (pictures or words, etc) affects me emotionally and spiritually, is it even responsible of me to constantly subject myself to daily doses of it? I happen to think that God wants me to dwell daily on what is lovely, of a good report (since when has anything on Foxnews or any of its sister stations been of a good report?).
So...... that's where I've been and where I'll be. I will still update my blog regularly, just not daily!!
So... to all of you, my faithful blog readers, thank you for checking in on me!!!
Big hugs to you all!

COOL! Does that mean I will get some more of your time? :)
HOBL
Good thoughts.
...and a great reminder for all of us fellow-bloggers...!
I rarely listen to the news b/c of that very reason...too stressful. My mother used to listen to all the talk shows on the radio and she finally realized it was causing nerve problems. She stopped and became a better person. I applaud you for your efforts.
It did my heart good to read your post. Before the elections, I felt a little "guilty" when in a group that was discussing the latest because I didn't read much of the news. It mainly depressed me and took time away from our school day. While I may not be very knowledgeable about world affairs, I could have a deep discussion about consonant blends, nouns, verbs, their tenses, times tables, line segments, angles and triangles - among other things. :)
God bless you on your journey.
Amen to you, my dear=) Very true...I think we can "waste" our time doing very good things...good just not best. Our kiddos are only young once. BTW I finally got your snow pix on my phone...BRR!! This morning was finally sweater weather here (for 5 minutes)=)LOL
It looks like ya'll had a really fun Thanksgiving...fun!
I agree that overconsuming in the internet world or news world can definitely have a downing affect...sure, there are some things we should truly be concerned about and act upon...but mostly those shows are about the hosts' egos...i never want to forget that reality.
Enjoy your more relaxed days...I am enjoying them too!:)
Completely understandable...a wise choice...and here's a friend who agrees 100%. ~Love, Marilyn
Good words and advice to live by. I have a dino computer that limits my desire to be on the computer...but I kind of worry how the new one (yeah! 4 Christmas) will effect all of us. I think a lot of things in life just come down to moderation, and certain times will call for more involvement...other times for less. I tell you what...haven't these last few years been busy with young ones at home...but also the reality how fast these days are going by is sinking in! You cannot hold them too much!!
Wise choice Julie. I, too, have to manage my time and find I can put too much in with my laptop in place! God does want our best use of time, not just good. You have such a precious family that it is best to love them while they are little and precious1 At the same time it is nice to connect with friends you wouldn't be able to if not for technology. Love to you all.----maryh
