Thankful Thursday

Just about 1 yr ago this week, our lives drastically improved. Our church purchased a new furnace for our trailer. The old furnace was working about about 10% of its original function. This year we have noticed such drastic differences. Last winter, the kids would have to sleep in the living room so that they could stay warm. Their bedrooms just never were warm. Last winter we all battled colds, sinus infections, flu, etc constantly. We would have to keep the thermostat at 72 at least just to keep the house bearable. And, the furnace would run constantly. This year, we have our new furnace. The kids bedrooms are warmer than the rest of the house. We have hardly been sick at all. In fact, the kids have yet to come down with the flu of any kind. We keep the thermostat at 68 and we are toasty warm - even with the severe cold temps we've been having. It is such a blessing and yes, I'm VERY thankful!!!

Here is the post I made last year at this time:

If you've read Byron's blog already, you know that we now have our new furnace installed and it is WONDERFUL!!! The kids rooms are actually warm for a change. Typically they are freezing even if the rest of the house is comfortable. With the old furnace we would have it set at 72 degrees and still be barely warm. With the new furnace, we have it set at 69 and we are almost TOO warm. What a wonderful wonderful blessing. And... best of all, it is using MUCH MUCH less fuel than the old one used. Anyways, we (the church) still has $650.00 to raise to finish paying for it so help us pray about that.

Since the writing of that entry, the $650.00 was raised - actually within a week of that posting I believe.

Here is Byron's post from the same day last year:

We installed a new furnace in our home today and my wife is very very happy. The greatest part about it is that we feel warm. What felt the same with the old furnace and thermostat control set at 74, the new 90% efficiency furnace and electronic thermostat does the same at 68. The old furnace had the fan motor going bad and was only blowing about 25% of what the new one blows at. The target on the inside of the old furnace had melted over time and we were not able to buy a replacement. I guess that is what happens when something gets to the 25 year old mark. The kids rooms are now nice and warm. No more bunking in the livingroom when it gets real cold out.
